Last week, Moreno flew to beautiful Plovdiv (Bulgaria) to attend the LifeWatch ERIC Biodiversity & Ecosystem eScience Conference.

The conference was a great opportunity to show how far the sRedList platform has come after two and a half years. Moreno gave a talk on "Presenting the sRedList platform for rapid and effective extinction risk assessment", showcasing the key functionalities of the platform for streamlining the work of Red List assessors. In its first two years of life, the platform has been used for ca. 10,000 sessions of over 5,000 species. Hundreds of completed sRedList assessments have already undergone full check and are now published in the official IUCN Red List database.

Together with LifeWatch Italy researcher Francesco De Leo, Moreno has also delivered a masterclass on "Using the sRedList platform for rapid and effective extinction risk assessment", with a practical demo (photo below) on how to perform a basic Red List assessment for a new species in 20 minutes.
