Last week, Michela and Valerio attended the Student Conference on Conservation Science (SCCS) in Cambridge.

The conference proved to be an enriching experience, allowing our PhD students to connect with researchers from diverse universities and nations. It offered a valuable opportunity to engage with a wide array of global conservation issues and localized applications, fostering collaboration and fresh insights into their ongoing work. The event provided a platform for them to present posters summarizing the latest findings from their respective PhD research.

Michela presented her recently completed paper, "Parasitoid insects unveil complex patterns of functional change across elevational bands." Her work utilizes functional diversity to investigate how insects respond to a changing climate. Specifically, the study analyzes the process of functional homogenization along elevation that European bristle flies have undergone over the last six decades.

Valerio presented his work, currently under review, titled "Climate risk for Italian habitats." The study highlights the habitats most exposed to climate change under an intermediate emission scenario for 2050 and suggests potential adaptation and management actions.

See you next year!
