Last month Lara, Andrea and Moreno attended the final INF-ACT annual meeting [https://inf-act.it/event_roma2025.php], presenting the results from three years of work.
Lara presented here ongoing work on "Modelling the ecological drivers of West Nile virus in Italy" in a poster, introducing a predictive, macroecological approach to model the risk of WNV spillover in humans across Italian municipalities, featuring also her recently published paper on Culex pipiens distribution in Europe [https://doi.org/10.1111/jbi.70019]. Andrea gave a talk on his work (under review) on “Identifying global hotspots of high-priority viral zoonoses to guide spillover risk monitoring”, which uses predictive modelling to identify hotspots of potential zoonotic risk., also featuring his recent methodological paper [https://doi.org/10.1111/2041-210X.14500].
Moreno presented a poster on “Exploting the potential of macroecological modelling for zoonotic disease risk prediction", which featured five of scientific articles produced as part of the team’s contribution to the INFACT project.
The conference gave us a fantastic chance to stay connected with the Italian One Health community, engage with colleagues, exchange ideas and spark new collaborations to support zoonotic disease preparedness.
