BioSpritz 1st Edition: Biodiversity Aperitifs 2025

On June 10th, SCB Italy launched the first round of this year’s BioSpritz initiative —a series of informal yet enriching events designed to spotlight exceptional science communication by young researchers. The featured speakers were selected from the Second Conference for Early Career Researchers (ECR) organized by the SCB Italy Chapter.

The first session welcomed Michela Gabrieli, Research Assistant at our Lab, who delivered an engaging talk on the role of flies (Insecta: Diptera) in agricultural landscapes and their importance for biodiversity conservation. Her presentation shed light on an often-overlooked group of insects and highlighted their ecological significance in sustainable farming systems.

Following the talk, participants enjoyed a relaxed networking moment over a Spritz, kindly offered by the organizers. The atmosphere encouraged open discussion on current research challenges, sustainable practices and the increasingly conscious role of consumers in shaping a greener future.
